In short
You sign in to the Meraki dashboard on Meraki's own sign-in page, reached from dashboard.meraki.com, entering your email address first and then completing the method set for your admin account: a password with optional two-factor authentication, or SAML single sign-on through your identity provider. Each admin account's login method is fixed once created.

Where to sign in
The Meraki dashboard sign-in page is on Meraki's own domain: go to dashboard.meraki.com and you are taken to Meraki's dashboard login (hosted on dashboard.meraki.com or account.meraki.com). Type the address into your browser or use a bookmark rather than following links in emails. Keep your dashboard password to yourself: if you want our help, a full administrator can add us with our own account, as explained below.
The sign-in page asks for your email address first, then takes you to the method set for that administrator: a password (and a two-factor code if enabled), or your organisation's identity provider for single sign-on. Meraki's mobile app uses the same accounts.
If you cannot reach the page at all, check Meraki's public status page (status.meraki.net) before assuming the problem is your account. Organisations hosted in Meraki's separate Canada or India regions use their own dashboard addresses.
Sign-in methods compared
| Method | How it works | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Email and password | Meraki's default for new organisations. The admin signs in with their email address and a password. | Two-factor authentication can be added and can be enforced organisation-wide. |
| Two-factor authentication | After the password, the admin enters a code from Duo Mobile, which changes every 30 seconds. | Backup codes are available under My Profile. Duo Restore helps move to a new phone. |
| SAML single sign-on | The admin authenticates with your identity provider, such as Microsoft Entra ID, and is passed to the dashboard with a role. | Can start at the identity provider's portal or at the dashboard. SAML admins cannot use the Dashboard API. |
| Cisco SecureX sign-on | Retired | Cisco SecureX reached end of support on 31 July 2024. Some older Meraki pages still mention it. |
Meraki's documentation states that the authentication method for an admin account is fixed and cannot be altered. To move an administrator from email login to SAML (or back), the account is deleted and recreated with the new method. Plan the change so another full administrator stays in place throughout.

Fixing common login problems
Forgotten password or unknown account Use the recovery links on Meraki's sign-in page, such as "I forgot my email". If you were set up by a colleague or a previous IT provider, another full organisation administrator can check your account under Organization > Configure > Administrators and correct your email address or access level.
Lost or replaced phone (two-factor) Meraki's recovery steps, in order:
- Use one of the eight one-time backup codes listed under My Profile > Two-factor authentication, if you saved them.
- If you enabled Duo Restore, recover your account on the new phone.
- If your organisation has another administrator with full access, open a Meraki support case using the "No dashboard access?" route; that second full administrator approves the reset by commenting on the case in the dashboard (email or phone approval is not accepted).
- If there is no other full administrator, Meraki support verifies organisation ownership and sends a signed form to the organisation administrator.
Meraki's support phone lines cannot remove two-factor authentication, so use the support case route. If your organisation enforces two-factor authentication for all users, Meraki support cannot disable it for the locked-out account until that organisation-wide setting is turned off by another full administrator; turning it off does not remove anyone else's two-factor authentication.
SAML single sign-on not working Most SAML problems come from the role attribute. The dashboard accepts one role attribute from the identity provider and matches it to a SAML administrator role defined in the dashboard; if several roles are sent, the first match is used. Meraki says spelling mistakes and leading spaces in role names are the most common causes. Also check that the consumer (ACS) URL in your identity provider matches the one shown in the dashboard's SAML configuration, and that the X.509 certificate fingerprint entered in the dashboard matches your identity provider's current signing certificate.
Signed in, but networks are missing Your account may have network-level access only, or access limited by tags. A full organisation administrator can check your privileges. If you are using the mobile app with SAML single sign-on, try the browser too, as the app needs extra SAML setup (see below).
Dashboard slow or unavailable Check status.meraki.net and your own internet connection. Remember that devices keep running on their last known configuration if the dashboard cannot be reached; only changes and fresh monitoring data wait.
Administrator roles
| Level | Role | What it allows |
|---|---|---|
| Organisation | Full | Complete access to every network and organisation setting |
| Organisation | Read-only | View most settings without making changes |
| Organisation | None | No organisation-wide access; used with network-level roles |
| Network | Full | View and change everything in that network |
| Network | Read-only | View the network, including configuration, without making changes |
| Network | Monitor-only | View a subset of monitoring pages and summary reports |
| Network | Guest ambassador | Manage guest user accounts for an SSID or client VPN only |
Meraki also offers roles limited to cameras and sensors. Each admin holds only one role per network or tag.
Is Meraki dashboard access the right fit for you?
We will check it against your systems and requirements and recommend the right option.
Signing in on the mobile app, and giving your IT provider access
The Meraki mobile app uses the same administrator accounts as the browser. If your account uses SAML single sign-on, the app needs the sign-in to start from Meraki's side (Meraki calls this SP-initiated SAML) rather than from your identity provider's portal, and Meraki documents some extra setup for it. If the app will not sign you in but the browser does, that setup is the first thing to check.
Giving a supplier or IT provider access is done by adding them as an administrator, not by sharing your own login. A full organisation administrator adds their email address under Organization > Configure > Administrators and picks the narrowest role that does the job: read-only for a review, network-level access for one site, or full access for a project. Remove or reduce that access when the work ends; the change log keeps a record of what each administrator changed.
Several organisations can sit behind one login. If you see an organisation list after signing in, choose the right organisation before looking for your networks.
Good practice for dashboard access
- At least two full organisation administrators, so one lost phone or one leaver does not lock you out.
- Force two-factor authentication for every administrator under Organization > Settings, and keep backup codes somewhere safe.
- Use SAML single sign-on with your identity provider where you can, so joiners and leavers are handled in one place.
- Least privilege: give suppliers and help desks the narrowest role that does the job, and remove access when work ends.
- Protect automation accounts: Dashboard API keys inherit their owner's rights, so use a dedicated account and rotate keys.
- Review the change log after incidents and before audits.

Working with us on Cisco Meraki
Forever Systems helps organisations plan, buy and run cloud-managed networks built on Cisco Meraki wireless, switching, security and SD-WAN.
- Plan the network: we look at your sites, users and existing kit, and can arrange a wireless site survey before anything is ordered
- Choose the right products: access points, switches, security appliances, cellular gateways, sensors and cameras sized to what each site needs, rather than a one-size bundle
- Licensing made clear: we explain co-termination, per-device and subscription licensing, check renewal dates and quote the licences you need
- Deployment help: we can set up the Meraki dashboard, organisations, networks, templates and policies, and help move you from older or on-premise kit
- Ongoing help: changes, licence renewals and reviews as your sites grow, with the scope agreed at quote

Frequently asked questions
Where do I log in to the Meraki dashboard?
On Meraki's own sign-in page: go to dashboard.meraki.com and you are taken to Meraki's dashboard login. Enter your email address first, then your password and two-factor code, or you will be passed to your identity provider if your account uses SAML single sign-on.
Can I switch a Meraki admin account from password login to SSO?
Not on the same account. Meraki states the authentication method for an admin account is fixed. To change it, the account is deleted and recreated with the new method, so make sure another full administrator remains in place while you do it.
I lost my phone with Meraki two-factor authentication. What now?
Use a saved backup code, or Duo Restore if you enabled it. Otherwise open a Meraki support case through the "No dashboard access?" route; another full organisation administrator approves the reset in the dashboard, or Meraki verifies ownership if there is no other administrator.
Does Meraki support single sign-on with Microsoft Entra ID?
Yes. Meraki supports SAML single sign-on for the dashboard and publishes a setup guide for Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), as well as other identity providers. The identity provider sends a role that maps to a SAML administrator role in the dashboard.
Is the Meraki dashboard down?
Check Meraki's public status page at status.meraki.net and your own internet connection. If the dashboard is unreachable, Meraki devices keep running on their last known configuration; only configuration changes and new monitoring data wait.
Is SecureX sign-on still available for Meraki?
No. Cisco SecureX reached end of support on 31 July 2024, so SecureX sign-on is no longer a current way into the Meraki dashboard. Use email with two-factor authentication or SAML single sign-on.
